We have made several attempts at creating a template to conduct Job Safety Analysis but each has had a “Fatal Flaw” in that if a User creates a JSA with numerous steps, but a reviewer finds that there is a step missing, there is no way to go back an insert a step.

IE

You have 12 steps in “Changing a Car Tire”, but the creator forgot “Loosen Lug Nuts”  between step 3 and step 4….  On Review, the supervisor notices the missing step, but none of the template we have tried allow for the insertion of a missed step… so the only way to correct the JSA is to start over…

GIANT TIME WASTER so the crew (and staff) don’t want to use it….

Anyone found a solution?  I have been asking Safety Culture for 2 years… we REALLY need a JSA Module in Safety Culture.

Hi @Alan

Not a perfect resolve but how about adding  a question asking if all steps of the task are covered. Add a logic to request details in the event the answer is no including where in the JSA it should be applied.

This may be a solution that can be used.

I just made a test template that just has repeatable sections - so the inspector (person doing the JSA) can keep adding as many steps as they need. Once it’s published, users with the right permissions can go and “Edit Inspection” to amend and the the new steps. When editing the inspection, it let’s you basically reopen the inspection and change and add anything as if you were the doing the inspection originally.

To edit the inspection - just click on the dots next to the inspection in the “Inspections” menu and click Edit Inspection.

I think a user needs admin permissions to edit someone else's inspections. However you could tell the original inspector what they missed and they can go back and edit their own inspection no matter what their permission sets are.

I hope this can solve your problem in some way,
